          Forging → Normalizing → Rough machining → Carburizing → Quenching → Low-temperature tempering

          • After carburizing and quenching, surface hardness is typically 58-62 HRC.
          • Core hardness is typically 30-45 HRC, giving a hard wear-resistant surface with a tough core.
          • This combination is important for gears, reducer parts and heavy-duty transmission components.
          Grade Selection

          20CrNiMo5 vs 20MnCr5

          Compared with 20MnCr5, 20CrNiMo5 costs more but gives better toughness, load capacity and fatigue resistance.

          • Choose 20CrNiMo5 for heavy-duty gears, wind power gear components and high-end reducer parts.
          • Ni improves toughness and impact resistance, Cr improves hardenability and wear resistance, and Mo reduces temper brittleness while improving strength.
          • Use 8620 only as a close American reference; it is not an identical composition match.
